Precociously initiated into his musical studies of transverse flute and composition by Mrs. Teresa Procaccini, Marcello was awarded his first diploma in piano with full marks under the guidance of M. Rodolfo Caporali and his second diploma, this time in singing, with the aid of M. Carlo Bergonzi.
At the same time he graduated from the La Sapienza University of Rome with a first-class honours degree in Ancient Greek and won a classification in Superior Musical disciplines from the Academy of Santa Cecilia.
As tenor he made his debut in 2003 singing for the Holy Father during the XVII Youth Worldwide Day in Canada.
Soon afterwards the artist performed Rossini's Italiana in Algeri, La Cenerentola, Petite Messe and the Stabat Mater.
In a remarkably short time, Marcello has developed a large and varied operatic and concert repertoire with appearances in numerous theatres and musical institutions such as:

In the traditional operatic repertoire he has already taken part in  Acis and Galatea, Lo frate 'nnamorato, Il matrimonio segreto, Don Giovanni, La fille du Regiment, L'elisir d'amore, Zaira, Oberto, Gianni Schicchi, Boris Godunov, Der Rosenkavalier, The rake's Progress and he takes a particular interest in the rediscovery of some rare titles of the Neapolitan School and of the Eighteenth Century (Eurilla e Alcindo - Vivaldi; La prosuntuosa delusa - Sigismondo, L’ uccellatrice and Don Falcone - Jommelli;  Lo matremmonio annascuso - Leo; Ifigenia in Aulide- Cherubini; L’uomo femmina - Galuppi etc.)
His Sacred Music performances include the Messiah, La resurrezione  and Te Deum of Haendel, Magnificat - Bach; Stabat Mater - Haydn; Messa dell’ Incoronazione, Requiem -Mozart Missa Solemnis - Beethoven , Requiem of Donizetti and the rarely heard King David by Honegger. He has also enjoyed singing in lesser known works -for example Salmo XIII and the Faust- Symphony by Liszt and Die Erste Walpurgisnacht by Mendelssohn.
This unusual artist has also accepted the challenge of the Twentieth Century Italian Musical Theatre
With L'Aumento and Procedura penale of Chailly, La favola di Orfeo of Casella, Orfeo of Malipiero and Pinocchio of Valli.
His other major passion is Baroque Music which he studies with Mrs. Jill Feldman and Mrs Jennifer smith and which he performs with M. Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques (Monteverdi, Madrigali etc)
At the moment his favourite coaches for operatic repertoire are Mrs. Enza Ferrari and the tenor Dano Raffanti.
His voice is also particularly suited for German Lieder, which he studies with M. Peter Schreier,and his intensive concert seasons in Italy and abroad include Beethoven: An die ferne Geliebte; Schubert: Die Schöne Müllerin, Die Winterreise, Schwanengesang; Schumann: Liederkreis op.24, Dichterliebe; Brahms: Die Schöne Magelone, Vier ernste Gesänge; Liszt: Lieder; Schönberg: Fünfzehn Gedichte; Berg: Sieben frühe Lieder; Hindemith: Die junge Magd; Mahler: Des Knaben Wunderhorn (extr.) and Glinka Adieu à St Petersburg; Mussorgskij Chants et danses de la Mort; Prokofiev Trois Romances sur poemes de Pouchkine, Chansons populaire russes; Borodin Melodies russes (extr.)..
This extraordinarily versatile young tenor has also recorded for RivoAlto L’Uccellatrice of Jommelli, for Dynamic I giuochi di Agrigento of Paisiello (live, first rec.) and  the Achille in Sciro of Sarro  (live, first rec.) and for Bongiovanni L'uomo femmina of Galuppi (fisrt rec.).
Among the most recent performances of the artist,  Boris Godunov can be counted at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice in September 2008 and, among the next ones, on june 2009, the Demoofonte  of Jommelli under the conduction of M. Riccardo Muti and the Iphigenie auf Tauris  of Gluck-Strauss (Festival  della Valle d’Itria, aug. 2009)
