Nato a San Pietroburgo, Roman Zaslavsky ha iniziato lo studio del pianoforte a sei anni; dopo essersi diplomato alla Scuola Speciale di Musica per bambini, ha proseguito i suoi studi musicali al Conservatorio di San Pietroburgo.
Durante gli studi ha partecipato a molti concorsi pianistici, vincendo numerosi premi, tra i quali si segnala il primo premio al Concorso Pianistico Nazionale in Russia nel 1989
In seguito è stato premiato anche al Concorso Internazionale Pianistico Città di Senigallia, al Concorso Internazionale Accademia di Hamamatsu in Giappone, al Concorso Internazionale di Musica da Camera V.Gui a Colonia e al Concorso Internazionale Josè Iturbi a Valencia.
Trasferitosi in Israele nel 1991, Zaslavsky ha perfezionato i suoi studi alla Rubin Academy of Music a Tel Aviv, diplomandosi nel 1995; in seguito si è trasferito in Germania, dove si è diplomato anche alla Hochschule für Musik di Francoforte e alla Musikhochschule di Karlsruhe.
Roman Zaslavsky è un pianista estremamente eclettico, si sente infatti ugualmente a suo agio suonando da solista, con ensembles da camera e con grandi orchestre, ottenendo invariabilmente enorme successo sia da parte del pubblico che da parte della critica, non solo grazie alla sua tecnica perfetta e al virtuosismo, ma anche alla sua personalità incisiva che gli permette interpretazioni esplosive e brillanti.
Gli impegni delle ultime stagioni comprendono numerosissimi concerti e recitals nelle più prestigiose sale da concerto in Israele (Zavta Hall al Tel Aviv Museum of Arts, Teatro di Gerusalemme,…) e varie tournées in Germania, Spagna, dove ha suonato con l’Orquesta de Valencia al nuovissimo Palau de la Musica, in Olanda al Concertgebouw e in Brasile.
Da segnalare il debutto in Italia, al Teatro Grande di Brescia con il Concerto n. 2 di Rachmaninov diretto da Laszlo Kovacs, ripetuto al Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, sotto la direzione di Michail Jurowski, con grandissimo successo di pubblico e critica; recenti gli impegni a Saarbrucken sotto la direzione di Constantin Trinks con il Concerto n.5 di Beethoven, concerti con la Filarmonica di Bruxelles con Michael Tabachnik, a Vienna con Michail Jurovski, a Budapest con la Budapest National Radio Symphony Orchestra con la direzione di Laszlo Kovacs, a Tokyo dove ha tenuto un recital alla Oji Hall.
Roman Zaslavsky si esibisce spesso in duo con il violoncellista Gavriel Lipkind.

Born in St. Petersburg Israeli pianist Roman Zaslavsky gained an international recognition after winning the Primer Gran Premio at the renowned “José Iturbi” International Piano Competition in Valencia, Spain.

Since then he performs regularly at the major concert stages around the globe. His tours took him to almost all European countries as well as to Israel, Japan,Columbia, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. In the past few years, the pianist has given performances also in Asia during his extensive tours in Taiwan and China appearing among others at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, at the Beijing Concert Hall, at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center etc.

Roman Zaslavsky is also a top prizewinner of some other renowned international piano competitions such as the “Vendome Prize” International Piano Competition in Cologne (the only winner) and the “3rd Hamamatsu Academy International Piano Competition” in Japan (second Prize).Having left St. Petersburg and Russia in 1991

Roman Zaslavsky emigrated to Israel, then moved to Germany. Here he made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra under the button of Gianandrea Noseda performing then regularly with acclaimed international orchestras in Spain, Italy, Germany, South America in collaboration with Michail Jurowski, Lászlo Kovács, Constantin Trinks, Ligia Amadio and Ruben Gazarian.

In 2017 Roman Zaslavsky was appointed Professor for Piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
Roman Zaslavsky’s concert appearances in such concert halls as the Berliner Philharmonie, the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Oji Hall in Tokyo, the Kitara Hall in Sapporo, the Sala Cecilia Meireles in Rio de Janeiro, the Sala Sao Paolo in Sao Paolo
and the Jerusalem Theatre are recognized by international audiences and critics alike.

The Scottish “Herald” was impressed by his performance calling it ”…A touch of dynamite”, “… flamboyant, swashbuckling”, “…A sensation”. The British press praised him in “Strad” magazine, saying that Mr. Zaslavsky is “… a pianist with exceptional virtuosity”, the Canadian “Toronto Star” wrote that his performance was “marvellous”, German “Badische Neueste Nachrichten” referred to him as “… a virtuoso keyboard lion”.

Zaslavsky’s discography contains several releases with EuroArts Music International: in 2012 the first Blu-Ray Audio release “Ingenious Opposites Vol.1” featuring works of Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt received the international Pizzicato Supersonic Award (2013). The sequel “Ingenious Opposites Vol.2”, released in November 2013 on Blu-Ray Audio highly acclaimed by the “Pizzicato International Journal for Classical Music“. Zaslavsky’s release of the filmed studio solo recital with works of Sergei Rachmaninov and Sergei Prokofiev was published on DVD in 2016 and his live recorded piano recital with works of Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt was released on DVD in 2017.

Roman Zaslavsky’s new recording for DECCA Classics dedicated to works of Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms has been released in December 2020.

Den Durchbruch auf den internationalen Bühnen verschaffte sich der russisch-israelische Pianist Roman Zaslavsky mit dem Gewinn des Internationalen
Klavierwettbewerbs “Jose Iturbi” in Valencia, Spanien, wo ihm “Primer Grand Premio” verliehen wurde. Es folgten Tourneen in mehrere Länder der Welt. Seine
Konzertreisen führten ihn sowohl in fast alle europäischen Länder, als auch nach Israel, Mexiko, Argentinien, Kolumbien, Brasilien, Japan und Kanada.

Im 1991 übersiedelte Roman Zaslavsky nach Israel und lebt seit 1995 in Deutschland.
Hier debütierte er anlässlich der Eröffnung des neuen Mehr!Theater in Hamburg mit dem London Symphony Orchestra unter der Leitung von Gianandrea Noseda, und
folgte wiederholten Einladungen vieler namhaften internationalen Orchester in Spanien, Italien, Deutschland und Latein Amerika unter der Leitung von u.a. Michail
Jurowski, Lászlo Kovács, Constantin Trinks und Ligia Amadio legte. In den vergangenen Jahren gab der Pianist zahlreiche Gastspiele in Asien, wo er u.a. in renommierten Sälen Taiwans und Chinas konzertierte.

Kritiker und Publikum lobten überschwänglich seine Auftritte in Konzertsälen wie dem Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, Palau de la Música, Valencia, Auditorio Nacional de Muśica, Madrid, der Laeiszhalle, Hamburg, der Berliner Philharmonie, der Philharmonie am Gasteig, München, dem Großen Sendesaal des Hessischen Rundfunks, und der Alten Oper, Frankfurt, der Tonhalle in Zürich, der Oji Hall in Tokio, der Kitara Hall, Sapporo, dem Teatro do Sesi in Porto Alegre, dem Sala Sao
Paulo in Sao Paulo, Brasilien, dem Tel-Aviv Museum of Arts und dem Jerusalem Theater.

Roman Zaslavsky hat für EuroArts Music International mehrere CDs und DVDs eingespielt. Im Jahr 2012 erschien sein Album “Ingenious Opposites Vol.1” mit
Werken von Robert Schumann und Franz Liszt auf Blu-Ray-Audio, eine Aufnahme, die den internationalen Pizzicato Supersonic Award erhielt. Die nächste Folge
“Ingenious Opposites Vol.2” mit Werken von Sergei Rachmaninov und Sergei Prokofiev wurde 2013 auch bei EuroArts Music International als Blu-Ray Audio veröffentlicht. Gleichzeitig erschienen beide Alben auch als Audio-CDs.

Die zwei Video-Produktionen von Roman Zaslavsky, die Studio-Aufzeichnung des Rezitals mit Werken von Sergei Rachmaninov und Sergei Prokofiev sowie die
Live-Aufnahme seines Klavierabends mit Werken von Robert Schumann und Franz Liszt, sind in den Jahren 2016 und 2017 bei EuroArts Music International auf DVDs
erschienen.

Seit vielen Jahren liegt Roman Zaslavsky die Pädagogik sehr am Herzen. Mit großem Einsatz widmet er sich der Ausbildung von Klavierstudenten und der Förderung
junger Pianisten. Sieben Jahre lang war er Dozent an der Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe. Darüber hinaus gibt er Meisterkurse in aller Welt. 2017 wurde er als
Professor für Klavier an die traditionsreiche Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien berufen.
